Why you should learn more about Laser Vaginal Rejuvenation

Vaginal Rejuvenation

Vaginal rejuvenation is a cosmetic surgery that combines tightening of the vagina, or vaginoplasty and reduction or reshaping of the labia, also known as labiaplasty. The procedure can help women recover the physiological health of the vagina which comes under considerable stress following childbirth, aging or injury.

Laser Vaginal Rejuvenation (or LVR)

Although there are non-laser options which are cheaper, laser vaginal rejuvenation is a preferred choice because of the following reasons.

Laser Vaginal Rejuvenation

Firstly, a laser is a finer tool than the traditional scalpel and delivers a more precise and controlled operation on delicate tissues in the area. Secondly, the increased control provided by a laser and its ability to clog blood vessels that are operated on during the operation, result in significantly lesser bleeding and scarring. Due to the above factors, an LVR procedure ensures an easier and much shorter time of recovery.

The procedure

It is important to provide the patient’s medical record and ask questions too, and follow preoperative instructions from the surgeon to prepare for the surgery. In all cases, instructions explicitly forbid smoking two weeks before surgery, discontinuation of aspirin and related drugs that can increase bleeding. Drinking ample amount of water leading up to the surgery and post-surgery can help in the recovery process.

The most common LVR procedures are typically carried out on an outpatient basis and may last from one to two hours, depending on the technique and range of operations required. An anesthesia block is given to the patient, which provides 18 to 24 hours of anesthesia after the operation. Subsequently, a mixture of anesthetics and adrenaline is administered into the walls of the vagina. Based on the need for operation on the vagina or the labia, surgical markers, skin staples and sutures are used to outline, align and tighten the muscles. A specialized LVR laser is then used for incision, removal of excess tissue and desired reshaping of the pudendum as per the plan.

After completion of the LVR, the patient is taken to the recovery room and is equipped with a surgical dressing that provides support to the vagina.

Recovery and care after a Laser Vaginal Rejuvenation procedure

woman drinking waterIn most cases, there is some bruising or swelling after the operation. Appropriate medications prescribed by the surgeon, regular intake of fluids and bed rest are most important at this stage. It could take anywhere from seven to ten days for a patient to return to regular work; strenuous activities and sex should be avoided for up to six weeks after the operation.

The most effective strategy for aftercare and recovery is to schedule regular follow-ups with the surgeon, continually monitor the health of your vagina and seek further check-ups in case of any concerns.…
